Working in the Czech Republic means that you pay Czech taxes. Interestingly, there is a flat tax here of just 15% on income which is rather progressive. Of course, you then get hit with social security (4.5%) and health care taxes (6.5%) too. All sounds pretty good right? Well, the Czech government is quite crafty and you ACTUALLY pay the 15% tax on what is laughingly referred to as super gross wages. Super gross wages are 135% of gross wages so you see the actual level of taxation is higher then the 15% quoted above at 20.25%. Clever eh?
