Jicin is a town in the area known as Czech Paradise (Cesky Raj). The town is fairly small but features one of the most beautiful and large town squares I have seen in the Czech Republic complete with clock tower and under arch walkways. The town and the area is worth a visit and in the next few articles we will be exploring the area together – starting with Jicin.
Jicin was founded in 1300 and lies on the river Cidlina aproximately 85km from Prage. The town square is dominated by the Valdice Gate – a clock tower that stands imposingly in one corner of the square.
